Should I even be concerned with all this change?

Facebook is the new TV , Twitter is the new social movement, Emojis are the new universal language, AI is the new customer service, Podcasts are the new radio and so much more! Everything is changing faster and faster! A couple years ago we had to be dependent on traditional media-the TV, billboards, newspapers and radio for marketing and as consumers, for advertisement. Of course we transitioned to the online space a couple years ago but even that has changed and is changing! We are now depending on influencers for marketing, going live and the audience can access it right from the palm of their hands from anywhere in the world, a 9-5 organization can create codes and use artificial intelligence to assist you, talk to you and answer your questions 24/7 , you can literally talk to your phones! So much is happening in the digital space but, as a marketer, should I even be concerned? Most definitely!

As a marketer you must be in the know! You must know what is happening in the digital world. To keep abreast of the digital innovations will give you an edge over your competitors and create a more meaning full Business-Consumer relationship. You have to know HOW the new trends will affect or effect your social media strategy and give you optimal results. Too often we think that as soon as there is a new trend, we have to follow suit. That is far from the truth!

Assessment and Evaluation are imperative when one considers social media trends. Not all trends are ideal for your business. As a marketer, one must evaluate the pros and the cons, understand the trend, and see how this will create a better relationship with the target audience and enhance the social media/ Digital marketing strategy. For example, artificial intelligence might work well for the National Commercial Bank sign up process or application but would not be ideal for queries about an order at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) because KFC required a more direct and personal communication. In this case, a Direct Message on Instagram/Facebook could work or if the person feel more liberal or thinks they must be heard NOW, a tweet could be posted.

Essentially, you must know you business, remember your objectives, know your consumer and continuously evaluate the environment as change is inevitable!

If you do not take anything away from this article, Remember this:

There is a lot of clutter in social media today and it will only get more and more. As a marketer, what you need to do is to focus on your consumer and communities to earn success in social media. It is all about the consumer!
